A skincare routine can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be but there are some skincare steps you shouldn’t miss out on.
What’s your skincare routine like? Is it barely existent or is it an extensive regimen?
Maybe you sit somewhere in the middle like me. I like to take care of my skin but I’m not good at doing things religiously.
I find it boring and repetitive and my skincare routine is the last thing I want to do when I’m tired at night before I go to bed.
You can keep your skincare to a minimum and still cover all the bases.
Hydration, exfoliation, nourishment, anti-ageing and protection.
There are a few components of a skincare regimen that shouldn’t be ignored or left out.
You can keep it as simple as you are comfortable with but we recommend you include these elements for properly protected skin.
These are the four steps I include in my skincare regimen every single week.
Double Cleanse
The double cleanse is a new trend that is relatively simple. For something so effective it’s a really easy thing to do.
It’s based on the principle that a cleansed skin is an oxygenated skin.
An oxygenated skin can absorb whatever products you put on it after.
You can use any two methods.
For me a double cleanse consists of makeup removal first.
I use a Cleanse Off Mitt with some micellar water – a cloth eliminates the need for cotton pads.
Then I use a probiotic cleanser or a face wash to nourish the skin and remove any left over debris.
AHAs/BHAs
Acids are also a relatively new phenomenon.
They are a revelation in the world of exfoliation.
Acids are so much more effective than any scrub can be alone.
They can penetrate deep into the layers of your skin to melt away old dead skin cells.
When your skin is effectively exfoliated it will look brighter.
Acids will help lift pigmentation and lift away a dull complexion.
Serum
A serum is more effective than any moisturiser can be.
Generally, a serum will have a smaller molecular size than a cream so it can be more easily absorbed into the skin.
Serums with skin loving vitamins A, B, C and E will brighten, hydrate, and even out skin tone.
SPF
This should be the final step in your morning skin routine.
It should be used every day without fail.
Wearing spf is the single most anti-ageing thing you can do for your skin.
Not for its nourishing qualities but for its protective qualities.
It is light and sun damage that is ageing our skin daily.
Wearing spf will protect your skin and needs to be used in both winter and summer.
